Time to replace wifes machine - 420benz - 10-02-2016

She has a ResMed s9. Don't know what Medicare will pay for but we are looking for one that has a humidifier,is quite, small and light in weight.
Thanks

Assuming she uses CPAP, your Medicare coverage will be the same for any CPAP / Auto-CPAP. If she likes the S9, get a Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset For Her. Similar to the S9 in feel, but a bit more compact with integrated humidifier. Try to have the prescription specify a heated (Climateline) tube. What model S9 is she currently using?

RE: Time to replace wifes machine - 420benz - 10-02-2016

I think its IPX1

RE: Time to replace wifes machine - Sleeprider - 10-03-2016

For the S9, I was looking for a name on the front name-plate like Escape, Elite or Autoset. Anyway, the Airsense 10 Autoset or Autoset for Her will be a nice upgrade that has the same Medicare HCPCS code as any other CPAP. It is the best machine you can get with that code. Her prescription should include a CPAP E0601NU, and it helps if the doctor will also specify auto-CPAP and Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset as additional descriptors. Without the additional definition in the prescription, the supplier could give you a CPAP from China and call it good. The prescription should also include a E0562 heated humidifier, A4604 heated tube, and patient's choice of mask. Work with the doctor to get a specific prescription, and you will not have to worry about what the supplier dispenses!

Here is a list of HCPCS codes. Many different products, and various feature levels fit into these codes.

A7034 is CPAP Nasal mask
A7032 is CPAP Nasal mask cushion
A7033 is CPAP Nasal pillows
A7030 is CPAP Full Face mask
A7031 is CPAP Full Face mask cushion
A7044 is CPAP Oral Interface
A7027 is CPAP Hybrid mask
A7028 is CPAP Hybrid mask cushion
A7029 is CPAP Hybrid mask nasal pillow
A7046 is CPAP Humidifier Chamber
A7037 is CPAP tubing, long and short hoses
A4604 is CPAP Heated tubing
A7038 is CPAP disposable filter
A7039 is CPAP gross particle (foam) filter
A7035 is CPAP headgear
A7036 is CPAP chinstrap
E0561 NU is CPAP Passover Humidifier
E0562 NU is CPAP Heated Humidifier
E0470 RR is BiPAP rental
E0470 NU is BiPAP purchase
E0471 RR is BiPAP-ST rental
E0471 NU is BiPAP-ST purchase
EO601 RR is CPAP rental
E0601 NU is CPAP purchase

RE: Time to replace wifes machine - 420benz - 10-04-2016

The Co. She is with wants to repair the machine and give her a loaner. This is the second time this machine has been repaired. I tried to get them to give her a new one but they said she had to wait until next year. Can I find another Co. Thats takes Medicare and get a new one from them?

RE: Time to replace wifes machine - Sleeprider - 10-04-2016

Do you know when the last machine was issued? Medicare generally wants 5-years out of a machine, but if the machine is not functional, then will approve a new one.
What kind of problems does the machine currently have? Why does it need repaired or replaced?
Have you looked to see if this is a Escape, Elite or Autoset?

After the machine is on for a while,it makes a loud sound of flowing air.I removed the humidifier and checked all of the seals and cleaned them.It locks correctly and the mask fits good.I boiled it down to the machine not the humidifier.
