Almost everyone knows they can obtain a copy of the information contained in the credit reporting repositories (aka credit bureaus), but how many know that there is a similar repository used by insurance companies for the purposes of detecting fraud, setting rates, denying coverages, and for research?
It is known as the Medical Information Bureau and can be found at https://www.mib.com/. And, you may want to read the article at http://www.cincinnati.com/story/money/2014/06/13/insurers-keep-tabs-medical-data/10511853/
If you want to see what insurers (life, medical, etc.) may have reported, request your consumer report at no cost. You fill-out some identifying information using a secure web-connection and they send you a report in about fifteen days.
It can't hurt and you may be able to request corrections of any errors that may have slipped in.

The MIB has been around for decades. When they got started, I do not know. But long before there was an internet.
