ResMed F20 mask - jerrydaw - 12-02-2016
I currently use the ResMed F10 mask. My events average only 1.1 per hour. However, my leak rate is high, as reflected by the myAir leak rate scores. Does anyone know the difference between the F10 and F20 masks? It looks like the exact same design for both masks.

I'm not a full face mask user, but Resmed claims that the new F20 uses a new cushion design and a single size modular frame that accommodates all the different sizes of cushion.

For me, the F20 sits higher on the nose for one thing, which lets it seal better under the eyes.
It also has extra thickness of silicone in key areas of the seal to hold the shape better (like under the eyes).
My leak rate is the lowest it's ever been. By a huge margin.
There are long periods of time with no leaks at all. I've never had that happen before.
When there are leaks, they are very small (on the graph).
I have had to separately order an upsized headgear for it. I can't loosen the top straps enough, and got indentations and a sore spot at the top of my nose. Overall I don't have to tighten the straps like usual, to try to prevent leaks. The size and shape of the seal works very well for me. Normally I get leaks at the top corners and the bottom corners, and seal blowout on the sides.

Thanks for your reply. Very helpful. Based on your comments, I have to try this new ResMed mask. I have worn the small size mask for the F10 mask. Assume I would wear the same size for this F20 mask? But, just to be on the safe side, will download the sizing guide before I order. The harness I have for the F10 seems OK size wise.
As I have stated, my biggest problem with the F10 is air leaks. When I first get in bed and put the mask on, I have no air leaks. However, after I fall asleep and the auto titration starts, pressure increases and leaks occur. I hate to tighten the straps too much as the mask gets uncomfortable. Sounds like the F20 is a much better design air leak wise.
