ResMed missing communication library - cohenrd98 - 12-26-2016

I installed ResMed but when I attempt to run it I get an error message saying, Unable to detect communication library". This results in not being able to read the cpap chip

What operating system are you running?

What version ResScan are you trying to install?

Did you make note of this "warning" before installing:

Quote:INSTALLATION WARNING:

During the first part of the software installation, it will ask you if you want to install their 3 proprietary drivers. DO NOT CHECK any of the 3 boxes for these drivers, unless you have one of the following three ResMed-brand devices:

1) ResMed S9 USB Adapter (P/C: 36950) or ResMed S8 USB Adapter (P/C: 22203)

2) ResMed's ResScan Data Card Reader (P/C: 22207) or ACR 38U Smart Card Reader

3) ResMed Stellar ventilator machine with direct USB connection

Some users have reported that installing these drivers makes the ResScan program non-functional. If you're not sure what to do, try installing the software without the drivers first to see if the program runs properly without them.

If you are not using any of those devices, don't check them when you install.

Thank you for you reply. I am running Windows 10. I installed thae latest version 5.7. I did not check any of the boxes.

This is not a new issue. AlanE is quite good at SW issues.
As I understand it, the problem lies in Windows 10.
I would suggest getting ResScan 5.5 and running it.

How can I ger ResScan 5.5?

Just change the download link from 5.7 to 5.5 and it should work. They keep some of the old versions on their server.

Make sure you completely uninstall version 5.7 before installing the older 5.5 version.

I installed 5.5 and had the same problem I had with 5.7

Did you install as administrator?
Run as administrator?

RE: ResMed missing communication library - cohenrd98 - 12-26-2016

yes, I installed as an administrator.

ResScan is picky about where it wants to find its data. When you put your SD card into your computer does it show up as a drive that you can click into? If not, I would check with the manufacture of the SD card reader to see if they have an updated Win 10 driver.
