Failed copy and paste attempt - stanleydean - 12-29-2016 I just tried to copy and paste to a blank Word document a post from the forum that I wanted for future reference. The copy and paste worked but I was not allowed to "save" due to a "file permission issue". Was this because I inadvertently tried to violate a forum procedure or was it something else? RE: Failed copy and paste attempt - sonicboom - 12-29-2016 I had no problem just copying and pasting, then saving, your post above into a Word document. Not sure why you are having a saving document issue. It doesn't appear to be a forum related issue however. RE: Failed copy and paste attempt - chill - 12-29-2016 A file permission issue would be something on your machine: you did not have write permission in the directory where you tried to save it or you were trying to over-write a file you did not have permission to. RE: Failed copy and paste attempt - stanleydean - 12-29-2016 Thanks guys, this is a new computer with Windows 10 so maybe there is something here that I overlooked. I appreciate your replies. RE: Failed copy and paste attempt - Beej - 12-29-2016 In what folder are you trying to save it? RE: Failed copy and paste attempt - car54 - 12-30-2016 I don't understand why you had a problem, but often when I want to save something I just create a bookmark for future use. Car54 RE: Failed copy and paste attempt - OpalRose - 12-30-2016 I do the same, just bookmark it, then I can go back anytime to read. RE: Failed copy and paste attempt - stanleydean - 12-30-2016 Thanks everyone. It was being blocked due to a procedural issue on my part which I worked around. The bookmarking suggestion seems to be the best approach. |
