Does Medicare Cover Heated Hoses - Melman - 03-27-2017
Does anyone know if Medicare covers heated hoses? I would hate to order one and get stuck with the hideously inflated charges my my DME bills if it's not covered. Buying one for $37 from amazon will be much cheaper.

My father in law gets a heated hose from Medicare, YMMV. My DME will not ship them until I pay any out of pocket, verify that is how yours works and will know the coverage and cost before you have to pay. If they want to charge too much , just have them take it off the bill.

I recently ordered a heated hose, and just looked at the billing.
Total billed 71.69
Medicare paid. 28.00
My cost. 7.00 co insurance
There are many different medicare plans, so check with them and your DME to see what your cost will be. As you can see, for me $7.00 is cheaper than Amazon.

They are covered but you may need to have your doctor specify heated hose in the prescription.

I checked with Lincare. Not only is the heated hose covered with a copay of just $6.80 but it's already in my script. I could have gotten one when I got the machine in January. Fortunately, they are willing to give me a copy of the script so in the future I will know.

Yes, my script states Auto Cpap, patients choice, and supplies as needed.
