Ah, there are so many negative threads on this and so many more experienced and knowledgeable folks so I have withheld from posting so far.
From my personal experience after a year of using the SoClean device:
BEFORE yes weekly cleanings took a lot of time on the rinse bucket, wait 4 hrs, rinse, dry... BUT bigger issue was the Dreamstation humidifier - I would think many can relate to the bad design of sharp, uncleanable angles of the reservoir. And the worse part was that despite using distilled water before the end of each week there would be nasty pink / green stuff, and hard to clean even with a brush.
Since starting the soclean system there has been zero algea or whatever that was. Reservoir stays shiny. 1 year into it. No breathing issues for me. Yes the plastics and rubber on my P10 mask seem to be taking a small hit but ok consumables at the end.
Just sharing my experience for what its worth, not looking for an argument.

Did you start out using SoClean with a new reservoir or with one that had the colored growth?
If you used SoClean with the reservoir with the colored growth, did you remove the colored growth by cleaning prior to using SoClean or did the SoClean treatments cause the accumulated growth to disappear?
Did you have breathing issues that improved after you started using SoClean?
Please understand, I'm not trying to argue. I am interested in your experience.

When I received the cleaning machine I first did the normal weekly cleaning with the usual solution/bucket and wrangled the colored growth best I could as I would every week. Have done very very few manual cleanings since then, only after travelling for a few days since I don't travel with the SoClean and use drinking water at hotels (and yes I've noticed the growth comes back then). Maybe related to high-humidity climates.
Had a couple of breathing irritations before starting SoClean use, bothersome enough to warrant looking for a better cleaning system. I've been good since. In all fairness the irritations could have been unrelated, but I never experienced them prior to CPAP or after SoClean.

Someone from another thread said paraphrased "send me $300 and I will send you a magic rock to wave over your equipment while chanting "microbes and crud be gone!".
I was almost tempted but having worked in electronics field and seeing what effects ozone can do to rubber and plastics in high concentrations, plus unit doesn't physically remove the mineral and crud buildups, decided I can live with daily suds and water cleaning. While I have not read their directions I am sure they suggest periodic cleanings.

With SoClean you still need to wash. If you think SoClean is a substitute for cleaning you are making a big mistake.
I don't use SoClean and I can't imagine I ever would because the only publication claiming it works is from the manufacturer. There is no independent verification, but even those who do claim it works caution against using it as a substitute for manual washing.
I can't understand the issue with the shiny clean humidifier reservoir. Mine is shiny clean and all I've ever done is rinse it out each morning and refill each night with (soft) tap water. After a few weeks or months there will be some crud accumulating so I will need to wash it once a month or so.
Each morning I also wash my mask cushion in the sink with hot soapy water to remove face oils. Two times a month or so I wash the hose with a hose brush and hot soapy water.
The daily routine takes about two minutes, the bi-monthly routine takes about five minutes.

Ozone will kill microorganisms but it is not a cleaner. It will not kill microorganisms covered or enclosed in other materials because it does not penetrate. Only clean surfaces can be disinfected by gaseous disinfectants such as ozone.
