Okay to use old head-gear, pillows, with new machine? - Agabaga - 05-01-2017

I am now trying to sleep the 4th night with my new ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset.  I find the head-gear and nasal pillows that are designed to work with this CPAP very uncomfortable.  I've tried both the Small and the Medium pillows.  At some point after starting therapy, I was aware of a weird sensation.  Sometimes this is associated with an annoying noise, but tonight, no noise but the sensation.  It's as if there's an air bubble in my mouth and I automatically puff it out.  This is enough to make me rouse just as I feel I am drifting off.  I just tried attaching my old head-gear and nasal pillows from my old S8 Escape CPAP and it feels comfortable and of course familiar.  Will using this old accessory set-up compromise my therapy with my new machine?  I'm not going to get into the issue that more than likely Medicare and my supplemental insurance would likely not pay for replacements, which no doubt I need.  But will the combination of old with new work and be efficacious?

So long as there are no leaks, the old supplies should work fine.

Any mask works with any machine. I'm using a Philips Respironics machine with a Fisher and Paykel mask, and they work just fine together.

Hi Agabaga,
If you don’t have any leaks with your older mask and if your headgear isn’t too stretched out, you shouldn’t have any problems. If that is more comfortable, I would go for it, to help you get used to your new machine.
Hang in there for other suggestions.

When I got a new machine in January, I used the mask from my old machine for several weeks with no problems. As has been stated, any mask will work with any machine.
