LEAKS - dizzy1 - 05-08-2017

I have recently upped the pressure of cpap and I have been getting lower ahi scores which is great.
The past 2 nights sleepyhead tells me my mask is leaking way too much.
I have not noticed the mask leaking at all during cpap.
I have to have the mask quite tight to stop leaks when I first put the mask and cpap on at night. (mask is resmed  quattro fx)
I do have a little bit of stubble growth maybe this is one cause of leaks?

Last nights results below:

I will start by telling you that I could never get the Quattro FX to seal well. You may need to try a different mask. The Resmed Mirage Quattro and the Airfit F20 both work well for me. On the other hand some people do well with the Quattro FX. I am just saying that you might end up needing to change masks.

In the Wiki section there is an article titled "Mask Primer" at the following location:  http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=Mask_Primer.    Towards the end of that article is a section entitled "How to Achieve The Perfect Mask Fit-GUARANTEED!". It is well worth reading.

Let us know how you are doing.

Best Regards,

PaytonA

Does look like a lot of leakages, but also you seem to be constantly waking and cycling you machine off and on. With all those wakes I do not think the AHI has too much meaning. Is it the leaks waking you?

RE: LEAKS - quiescence at last - 05-08-2017

ironically, adding my cloth pad between mask and face reduces the leakage, though the leaking is nearly constant - it is at a lower level. It didn't even bother or alert me. Also, while I had pressure relief (APAP mode) the pad eliminated the tickle of the seal as it flexed and relaxed on every breath.

Good luck controlling your leakage.

Many thanks for you input. Some useful information in the link you sent me.
Last night I played around with my mask fitting and I had no major leaks.

RE: LEAKS - dizzy1 - 05-09-2017

I always wake once or twice at night. I almost never sleep right through.

RE: LEAKS - dizzy1 - 05-09-2017

I did not notice any leaks at all. I am quite certain the leaks did not wake me.

RE: LEAKS - NadiaK - 05-09-2017

I have used the Quattro FX for 3 years now.  I have tried several different masks recently and none of them seal as well as the Quattro for me.  I also use the RemZzz liner with my mask.  I recently watched a video on youtube about this mask and realized something that I was never told about by the DME.  This mask should sit a little bit lower on one's nose.  I grabbed this screen shot from the video to show the correct positioning.

RE: LEAKS - dizzy1 - 05-10-2017

Many thanks for the info. I did see the video on youtube about how to fit the mask and since following instructions I have had much less leaks.
I do have to have the mask fitted quite tight though  to prevent any leaks.
