spo2 drop to 40% - dizzy1 - 05-08-2017

I used the Contec CMS50D+ last night for the first time.
I cannot find out how to view the full results on sleepyhead. I can only find the some info under Statistics tab.
It says my spo2 dropped to 40% at it's lowest last night.

I must add that my ahi was below 2 last night but sleepyhead says my mask is leaking way too much.

These devices are notoriously inaccurate when you inadvertently move around at night. Or if you should have a heart arrhythmia.

I suggest that you track your results and pay attention to the trend. Since you have only used this for the first time, there might be an acclimation period until you grow accustomed to the device. I use a wrist device as movement made my finger device inaccurate.

If you have the opportunity, take the device to your physician -- or even the local emergency room and compare the spot reading with their pulse-oximeter.

If you wish to discuss the matter with an expert, I recommend you speak or send a message to Kevin at vendor #19. He is a stand-up guy that tells the truth.

Ok thanks for your help. I will see how I get on tonight. I must admit I was panicking a bit!

You need the same attitude adjustment I got when I first tried CPAP and looked at all of the data. I had the same reaction as you and my sleep physician, the sleep clinic director at a world-class teaching hospital, told me, "you treat the patient, not the machine's displayed results." He went on to explain that there is a whole host of circumstances that can produce false readings and that a few readings are only snapshots -- and it is how you feel that is most important. He suggested I keep track of any parameter I was worried about for a week -- noting low/95%/high readings and then fax it to him. If he felt it was worth a visit, he would schedule one.

Best of luck for a good night's sleep and that great rested feeling.

40% SPO2 = your in a coma that you probably won't come out of. Anything below 60% results in total muscle paralysis. It's the sort of thing you'd experience in a plane with a sudden decompression at 35,000ft. The next step is hypoxia and a gentle death. As you're alive, I think you can safely assume (as you've probably done) that your SPO2 meter is not working properly. The Contec is a well recommended monitor so what's happened is a bit strange.

Many thanks for you input and support. I will certainly take your advice.

LOL your post has at least made me laugh today. I am still alive I think!
Last night spo2 drop to 40% again. I can assume it is a fault of some sort now.
Thanks for putting my mnd at rest.

you need to upload in to see the chart, there are wild spikes you ignore and the o2 software filters a lot of rubbish out.
