Question about Auto BIPAP - Walla Walla - 07-11-2017
Went to the Sleep Doctor today to get my marching orders. They were going to put me on a Auto CPAP with setting of 8-17cm. I told the Doctor that I had bought a Auto BIPAP and that was set for EPAP 11 IPAP 20 PS 3-8. I showed a copy of the Encore read out with a API of 4.1. So the Doctor says don't use Auto BIPAP and sets the machine for no Auto BIPAP, EPAP 15, IPAP 20. So can one of you explain why the Doctor was going to use Auto CPAP but won't use Auto BIPAP?

I'd make sure it's the resmed apap, the dreamstation is so slow to respond sometimes.
I wouldn't worry what pressure they start you on, you can adjust it for your needs.
You probably won't benefit from the PS that a bpap provides. You aren't obese or have copd? You can set up the auto bpap to work as an apap, by having a min and max PS of of 1 or 2.

The settings your doctor selected don't make much sense to me. I think it would be interesting to try them and compare results. I assume your comfort level may be better in auto mode using your initial settings. Doctors that think fixed settings are inherently better are usually wrong. There are some good reasons to use fixed pressure, but I don't see that applying in this case.
