Bloody nose - HILLTOPPER - 09-26-2012

1 week in. I have a mirage quanttro resmed full face mask with a resmed vmap s machine with humidifier. I really struggle with leaks, I can't seem to get it to seal correctly..Also, I wake up with a bloody nose a lot in the am.. Any ideas? I am tired all day. I have low oxygen levels so I have oxygen going into the mask to try and keep my oxygen levels above 90.It seems to work.I have type 2 diabetes . can this contraption affect my diabetes?
what about these things? Any advice? Dont-know
thank you

Hi HILLTOPPER, First of all, WELCOME! to the forum.! How high do you have your humidity set? Sometimes if you have it set too low or to high you can dry out your nose. In other words, if say, you have your humidity set to 5, turn it back a couple notches. On the other hand, if you have it set at 3, turn it up a notch or two. AS far as your mask goes, maybe you could consider getting a different one, as full-face masks are quite proned to leaks and can b very difficult to seal. Best of luck and I hope you can get this situation straightened out, don't give up and hang tight for more suggestions.

If you are having significant leaks, the flow rate on the machine increases in an attempt to compensate. You would have to have very high humidity to compensate for the drying effects that that high flow rate will have on drying out your nose and causing nose bleeds. Fix the leak and you should fix your nose bleeds.
