Philips Dreamstation Auto:
It is the wrong shape, this one is a bit noisier that the others.
Maybe just this machine, as the one she demonstrated was a lot quieter.
However, I found it to be a bit slower to respond if I stop breathing, maybe not by much, but enough.
It also has a clumsy humidifier arrangement, compared to the one I have elected to keep that is.
If I knocked the mask off, this thing would blow harder than a wind tunnel, then shut off. Is it supposed to do that?
Wi-Fi enabled for the clinic to look at settings and read card remotely, at least that is what they tell me.

Resmed S9 Auto:
It is ok, not so quiet as the one I have decided to keep, but a lot quieter than I was used to.
The size of this machine with the clip on humidifier is just to much to lug around, as I am not as mobile as others.
I can't live without a humidifier as I can't breathe after a couple of hours.
Not sure about this one, but I was told it had to connect to the clinic remotely, so it has to be Wi-Fi or Mobile network.
USB adaptor and cable, I think they said something about a plug in Wi-Fi adaptor, but I can't remember. Anyway, nothing appeared to be fitted.
Resmed Airsense10 Auto:
This machine is the bee's knees. I have decided to go for this machine.
It is very quick in stepping up the pressure if I stop breathing.
It does not go wildly overpressure if I knock the mask off, it appears to know and slowly build up enough for the noise to waken me.
Quiet.
Compact.
Easy to use.
All in one, humidifier slips in at the side of the machine. Even with it all clipped together, it is still quite small.
Ok, I have to put in a blanking plate to transport it, but it all fits in the bag (just).
Even room for an extension cable and a few small bits and pieces inside the bag.
Mobile networked (Vodaphone) in this country so clinic can adjust it and read the data card, so they tell me anyway.
Can be put into Airplane mode to save energy or if using on an aircraft, not that I ever will be.
The bad thing about it is it is 24Vdc and I have to buy an overpriced adaptor to use it during a power cut or when off grid.
So the Resmed Airsense10 Auto stays and the rest go back.
This is the first time I have had a choice, usually I get handed a machine and told to go figure!
However, this time they had two new machines and a second hand (hardly used one).
As I was a none smoker and so is the rest of the family and we have no pets it was decided as I was struggling (deliberately) I was asked if I wanted to take all three away and try them.
I was surprised they said this as they are usually pushed to have any machines there.
Anyway, I got them to use for a week each and to use the one I decided on for two weeks before I made up my mind.
The reason for this is I have been told they do not want to see me for 6 years and they had to give me one of these machines before they could leave me for that amount of time. If I didn't change they would have to see me every year.
I asked about the fact I was using a machine that they were going to give to someone else.
They said this was done all the time if a machine breaks down, though they would try to give me a new one if this one I choose breaks down.
I asked how they clean them. They put some gas of some kind through them, (they said it not me) then if they go faulty, they are sent away the manufacturers service department cleans them.
Ok, I take their word for it.
I wish they had a few others to try, I quite enjoyed playing around with them.
I found the ResMed Airsense10 just had the edge over the others.
They are all good enough machines and to be honest, if I had been handed any of them without choice I would be quite happy with them.
However, the Airsense10 was a bit smaller and I just felt it responded slightly quicker and it appeared easier to get on with, though this might not be the case, it did feel that way.
Ok, decision made, did I make the right choice do you think?
I have till Monday, though I have packed them away ready to go.
Why would I take an S9 when there is an Airsense10 on offer?

No stock, and I live and sleep where the Philips Respironics are made. Resmed is just a better machine because they have considered the end consumer and made the effort to incorporate newer technology and study findings into the machines. Philips is selling to doctors and DMEs. Give them a call some time and you'll quickly find out where the end user stands.

I just wish they would listen to customers views when it comes to masks.
However, I do think ResMed at least answer you, which is more than I can say for Philips.

Have and used both (and others). Interesting, I find Resmed's designs and behaviors on the more anti-consumer end of the scale compared to Respironics.
Different strokes, I guess.

With the respironics, it seems to need the minimum closer to the 90/85% pressure to get the apnea. It can get to a point where you might as well consider it fixed pressure. not that fixed pressure is a bad thing, it is undervalued.
I think the resmed is more responsive to treating apnea. also if there is a larger shift required, like those that are ok on 10, but need 16 when they sleep on their back. It seems the resmed is responsive with pressure. There was a comparison done with different models

With both devices, the best therapy is achieved when you optimize pressure to the point that auto-pressure changes less than 2 or 3 cm total. My observation is the Resmed will usually have better results when that has not been done, and the Philips will respond to certain people better than others in increasing and maintaining pressure. For others it tends to be behind the curve for some reason. I also find the use of EPR much more useful in therapy and comfort context than any of the Flex solutions. So I guess I have been a bit harsh on the Philips Auto CPAP and Auto SV Advanced case, as they are capable of good treatment; but when someone is asking me what they should request, I just answer directly anymore without all the explanation.

IMHO I chose the ResMed when it came to getting my ASV. Due to the insurance dancing circus (AKA follow the failing CPAP and failing BiPAP before the ASV path with 3 PSG's), I was on a PR DreamStation Auto BiPAP. PR has a better looking machine, humidifier tank design (except for water level markings) and interface, but the ResMed gives better therapy, all IMO. I know this isn't exactly an apples to apples comparison, but generically speaking DreamStation vs ResMed 10's. So my question to myself was "Which counts more, looks that I can't see when sleeping or therapy that helps me sleep with minimal SA?". ResMed was my answer.
