Does triptophan from eating turkey reduce AHI? - Sleeprider - 11-24-2017

Does tryptophan from eating turkey reduce AHI?  Here is your chance to make an unscientific observation.  If you had turkey for Thanksgiving, and without considering wine or alcohol intake, was your AHI lower than normal, or higher than normal.

I plan to submit this poll toward consideration of my next Nobel Prize.  Please post your observations.

We may later try to determine if baked, fried or smoked turkey confers these benefits, but for now, let's keep it simple. Vegans and vegetarians need not apply.

I saw my first ever 0.0 AHI last night. Tryptophan works.

I doubt tryptophan has any impact at all. I am convinced that the after meal sleepiness is a carb overload.

I can eat the whole turkey myself and have no impact. Needle doesn't move on the glucose meter and there is no sleepyness. Throw in mashed taters, dressing, and a few pieces of pie for desert, I can watch my blood glucose soar and get the corresponding comatose-like "I'm lying down and I'll be right here for the next several hours even if the house burns down around me" uncontrollable sleepyness.

It must work. My AHI was 0.10 last night, which is the lowest it's been in several week, and I slept 9 1/2 hrs.

I had some turkey breast the other night and it made no difference at all, maybe it should be leg?
I just like breast!  Apologies to our lady members!  It was not intended as a pun, or was it?   Oops

Funny though, I had dreams of getting some bird shot fired at me Gobble gobble.

So no, I think it's pretty well established at this point that the triptophan from eating turkey won't make you sleepy.

But topping off on a good dose of tripto may help you to be a bit less of a grumpy old coot. oldman
