First night with new machine; results - Josephdfco - 11-28-2017

Well, it was an interesting night, but a success, all things considered  https://imgur.com/a/Axr4h  Obviously, the machine needs tweaking, because when I tried to sleep with it, it was trying to force me to breathe before I was ready, which was a very unpleasant choking sensation. I lowered the rate from 12 to 9, and that seemed to help somewhat, but not enough. I even turned on the two ramp functions, but that didn't seem to help much either. I ended up trying the ivaps setting, and that definitely helped. The only setting i changed was one that I think was target respiratory rate. I took that down from 15 to 12 (my prescribed setting?). Anyway, it was a stopgap measure, and I ended up sleeping for 3 hours straight for the first time in years!  When I get back, I'll post the ST settings.

I't may be best to keep to one thread, that way the forum can see the history and help with suggestions.
NO UA and just a few H, you have to be happy with that, even thought it was a rough night.

You will take a few hours to get your head around ivaps, but initially I would consider your settings for height /pt (is 12) / Va ( l/m - dead air), probably around 500-600 tidal volume if you look down the list, as it adjusts other numbers. You can also use the vt/kg - ml/kg to around 7-8. As you turn the Va, you will see these numbers self adjust.

I'd leave the learn circuit to another day.
Initially I would use the s9 guide for any lung issues or leave the ti/rise/trigger and cycle in default
I would set min epap 6 (your median epap) min PS:4 ( a couple under your median PS) and max PS on max setting, the machine will sort what it wants.

this is a tidal volume guide
