Titration Night - Snorzz - 01-19-2018

Offered a cancellation slot, so did the titration last night.  Will get machine next week, supposedly the Resmed 10 Autoset Auto CPAP.  I'll try to watch the DME closely.

My most visible problem has been waking up each 1 1/2 hrs to urinate, sometimes more often, throughout the night.  Being new at this, I thought a little breeze blowing around my nose was normal, also marvelled at how noisy the wheezing, racing machine at the sleep center was.  Went to sleep & woke probably 1 hr to urinate heavily (no fluids since abt 5PM), back to sleep & woke abt 1 hr to urinate heavily again, back to bed but could not sleep, thrashed about----this with 32 wires glued & taped all over my body, plus the oximeter on a finger.

Around 1AM, (I guess, no clocks allowed) the tech came in and changed the nostril inserts to large and put a chin strap on me and rehooked several wires.  I had to urinate the third time.  Thinking seriously of ripping out all wires and going home in defeat.  Anyhow he put me back to bed---no breeze blowing around my nose, the CPAP machine became totally quiet and I quit developing the urge to urinate.  Next thing I knew, he turned on the lights and said "6AM, time to go home".  I did urinate, but nothing burningly urgent like before and not as much.  I have not slept more than 2 hrs at a stretch in many years.

The kicker was that when he measured my blood pressure, it was 127/25.  My blood pressure normally runs around 155/110 early mornings.  On my sleep study morning, blood pressure was 194/126 (approx) and I had to talk the tech out of calling an ambulance.

Suddenly I am very hopeful; I see it is possible to control the constant waking; I just have to get my machine/mask working like the sleep center's (last half of nite).  Had been thinking I would never find a solution, but hope at last!

Sounds like your on the right track!

The most valuable part may be having worked through the mask issues. The nocturia is a common problem with untreated sleep apnea, and you should have a lot of relief very quickly once you have your new machine. Good luck!

Hi Snorzz,
Good luck as you start your CPAP therapy.
