How Does SleepyHead Determine That You're Snoring? - HalfAsleep - 01-22-2018 What physiognomical phenomenon would trigger SleepyHead to register a snore? And what kinds of expressions are included in "snore"? SleepyHead can't pick up vibrations because there's no throat vibration sensor. Correct? And no audio track. So what does a sleeping body do to rack up a snore on a SleepyHead chart? Rapid throat flapping? Exhale Spurts? SleepTalking? Sighing? Coughing? Licking lips? Crackling dry mouth? Or, heaven forbid, nostril hair swaying in the wind? RE: How Does SleepyHead Determine That You're Snoring? - Walla Walla - 01-22-2018 Go here and look up snoring data. http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=Beginner%27s_Guide_to_SleepyHead RE: How Does SleepyHead Determine That You're Snoring? - HalfAsleep - 01-22-2018 Thanks, Walla Walla, but ooooh, boy..... my worst fears may have been confirmed..... oscillating nasal hair. That brings me to the other aspect of my question. The "snore" graph must register anything that oscillates rapidly. This is presumably not just a snore. It could definitely be a snort. A cough would likely do it? But how about lip chewing? Post-nasal drip? Talking in your sleep? RE: How Does SleepyHead Determine That You're Snoring? - Sleeprider - 01-22-2018 If you look at the flow chart, a flagged snore usually goes with a flow limited inspiration with a ragged top. I suppose you could experiment with different grunts, snorts, coughs and intentional snores and see how that works out. I have never played the nose-hair harp, but have trimmed a few. RE: How Does SleepyHead Determine That You're Snoring? - eseedhouse - 01-22-2018 Sleepyhead doesn't do it. The machine detects snores and all other data of interest and saves it to the SD card. Sleepyhead just reads what's on the card and presents it in a readable way. RE: How Does SleepyHead Determine That You're Snoring? - HalfAsleep - 01-22-2018 It sounds like a creative experiment is in order. My APAP will report to my incompetent Sleep Center that I had a mask off with wake up 20x in one night. This could create a significant abundance of jollity. Give me a few days, and I'll report back. A definitive wave form corresponding to the dreaded nasal hair oscillation. RE: How Does SleepyHead Determine That You're Snoring? - Hy Mezzanine - 01-23-2018 Nasal hair?! sheesh! Just ordered a nose & ear hair trimmer.I'm going after those "vines." |
