New to Forum - Tdog - 11-09-2012 Just wanted to say hello to folks as I am new to the forum. I had an older ResMed c-flex that died after about 6 years and I didn't follow-up with getting a new machine. Didn't seem to bother me for some time and I just didn't realize the impact it was having on my life. Two years after stopping therapy I was tired all the time, dozing off at work and fighting to stay awake on the drive home from work. Abouth a month ago, my wife took a video of me "sleeping". It scared the crap out of me. It took me a month between sleep studies, Dr. visits and the DME supplier trying to rip me off by giving me used equipment, then the wrong model, and finally today got my new S9...... Can someone give me an inital setting to try on my humidifier? Also perhaps a link for learning how to download and use software to improve my outcomes? Thanks in advance for all responses. btw I've been reading posts here for the past few weeks. Lots of good info and nice folks here. RE: New to Forum - 2Tim215 - 11-09-2012 Welcome to the forum, a great place for friendly information! I am fairly new and look forward to my S9 Autoset which has been in the works for a few months now. I'll let the experienced members address your questions while I watch an learn! Glad you decided to continue your therapy!!! RE: New to Forum - jdireton - 11-09-2012 Dude, You are so totally at the right place! Very soon now, one of the moderators is going to send you links to request the Resmed Clinicians Manual and another link (and detailed instructions) to download the ResScan software that couples with your new machine. Now, not to add to your new stuff, but which model S9 do you have? It should have a name next to the 0/1 button (Escape, Escape Auto, Elite, Autoset). This will really affect what information you can get. I won't go into the details until we have more information. Let us know which machine you have, follow the links (I promise you a moderator is providing them as we speak), and keep us up to date. Welcome to the forum! RE: New to Forum - jdireton - 11-09-2012 Maybe I missed it in your profile at first or you updated while I was replying. The Autoset is, argueably, a top machine out there. You'll have access to more data than you know what to do with. Again, the mods will be sending you the links soon. RE: New to Forum - trish6hundred - 11-09-2012 Hi Tdog and WELCOME! to the forum.! I'm glad you decided to start back with your CPAP therapy. As far as an initial setting for your humidifier, that is a trial and error type of thing. Hang in there for more suggestions and best of luck to you. RE: New to Forum - JudgeMental - 11-09-2012 Hello Tdog and welcome. Why not just start your humidifier right in the middle, or start it on #1 and see how you adapt to it. Humidification is such a individual and personal thing that there isn't any particular number/setting that someone can give you; The CPAP humidifiers are there just for that purpose..to help you use your XPAP more comfortably. Lots of places on this site to learn a wealth of info about XPAP.. BTW... your sex is no longer "undisclosed"... I was in the process of downloading Sleepyhead and saw the moderators were going to send me links. Good info Zonk, will try and get thru it all tonight. Really appreciate all the help and great advice. Looking forward to being normal again....if that's possible A couple other quick questions. Am I supposed to unplug this every day? And is there a quick way to disconnect the Quattro FX besides taking the hose off? Thanks RE: New to Forum - Ugly - 11-09-2012 (11-09-2012, 07:44 PM)trish6hundred Wrote: Hi Tdog and WELCOME! to the forum.! AutoSet for "Her" What's the difference between that one and one for "him" so to speak? RE: New to Forum - PaulaO2 - 11-09-2012 The Autoset for Her is pink. That's the only difference. Resmed sells "skins" for the S9, too. In my totally biased opinion, a pink machine is silly. No, you do not have to unplug the machine every day. Some do, most don't. I don't know how the FX attaches to the face but can't you just simply take it off? |
