Humidity and temperature settings-need help - Ticman1 - 03-22-2018
I have a ResMed auto set and a ResMed n20 nasal mask
Currently I have the climate hose set to Manual with hose temp at 80 and humidity level at 4.
Room temperature is 62 degrees
I am getting more than the usual “moisture” in the nasal mask which sometimes wakes me up as I feel like I am struggling to breathe.
Any recommendations on changing the settings. I have tried the auto setting for both tube and humidity and did not like that at all.

If you decrease your humidifier to 3 and leave your tube set to 80, you should see a reduction in mask condensation. Hopefully this new setting will eliminate all condensation.

I found this on the ResMed website a while ago:
When using ClimateLine™ heated tubing, we recommend using Auto mode, which defaults to a Climate Control setting of 80° F. From there, you can adjust up and down as necessary. If using ClimateLine heated tubing in Manual mode, start with a humidity level setting of 3 and a heated tube setting of 80°. Adjust the humidity level up and down by 0.5 to address any drying or rainout issues, and adjust the heated tube level up and down in one-degree increments to find the most comfortable temperature setting.

I have found the most effective remedy is to cover the short hose leading to the mask with a fleece hose cover. I use a standard 6-foot cover and it covers to within an inch or two of the mask, and back along the heated hose. The condensation you experience may only occur at the very end of the heated tube where it connects to the mask tube. That is where the sensor is located, and it is ineffective in preventing condensation beyond that point.

I insulate my short tube as well. Doing so stopped all of the condensation issues I was having while using a heated hose.

FWIW, I have my AS10-Elite set to humidity of 01. It works well for me. Tube is at 80 deg F. I place my tube above my top sheet above my midriff, and under two blankets. This arrangement helps to retain heat AND position throughout the night, and minimizes the use of electricity to heat the tube. It also doesn't seem to hinder me or cause snags when I turn.

I had terrible trouble with rain out and too much or too little humidity until I set both the humidity level and hose temp to "auto". I found it important to set both settings to auto. Since then, the humidity has been as close to perfect at possible. No chasing the setting all over the place with the wildly varying humidity levels here in Kansas.
