ResMed Narval oral appliance mixed results - MyronH - 07-03-2018

I recently started using a ResMed Narval oral appliance with my BIPAP. First night was terrible, but then I had two nights where it seemed to work and my AHI was very low. Last night, it was worse, with a lot of OA's in a row. This is not typical for me.

I think I may have a blockage somewhere else like in the back of my nose that is collapsing. Because the dental appliance definitely opens my airway in the back of my throat, I can feel that.

An ENT doctor said that in the back area of the nose, is some tissue that may be collapsing. Is this what may be causing the run of OA's?

Could this be the 'palatial collapse' I read about recently?

Possibly. I think what my doctor was referring to, is in this picture. See the dotted airflow line that goes through the nose. I thought the dental appliance should keep both airways open? Maybe it is just keeping my mouth airway open, and the nose airway still collapses?

Well that's interesting they are discontinued it. It does work somewhat and I like how it is small compared to other oral devices.
