Dream station opti start not working - Mpadgett714 - 10-17-2019

My machine has opti start function “on”.  Confirmed in setup menu. For a couple of days last week, it worked and the opti start symbol was displayed.  It was starting at higher than min pressure based on previous night, like it’s supposed to. Now no symbol, always starts at min pressure.  Confirmed it’s in on mode in menu. Thoughts?

You might try a hard reboot by unplugging your DreamStation for a few minutes and then plugging it back in. Be sure to remove your water chamber if you have to move the machine to reboot it. You could also try turning opti start off and then back on.

Are you in the “Provider Menu”?

Go to Provider Menu>Therapy Settings. There you will find a sub menu where you can enable or disable Opti Start.

If you need a Provider (Clinicians Manual), order here:

I was told that for optistart to work, it would only increase the starting pressure of new therapy session to 2/3's of 90% pressure of previous. In my case, 2/3's is actually lower than my starting pressure.

This from the providers manual:

Opti-Start:
This feature starts an Auto-CPAP therapy session at a starting pressure that is closer to the previous session’s 90% pressure, in order to reduce the likelihood of any residual events at the beginning of a therapy session. You can enable or disable this feature.

Since we don’t know what your 90% pressure is or what your minimum setting is, what we normally suggest is placing the minimum pressure at 2cm below the 90% reading or at what your median pressure is.

If you download OSCAR software, and post a screenshot of your data here, we could better advise.

Whether or not the opti-start is working for you correctly, I couldn’t say.  Post some data.
