Can someone take a look at my SH charts? - Dekkalife - 11-23-2019

I've been on CPAP for 6 months now and I don't feel any better.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to our forum.

I'm going to ask for a screenprint of your daily charts. See my signature for how to organize them.

Hello Dekkalife, and welcome! The experts here can do the most for you if you can massage the Daily chart a little before you print the screen and upload.

First, please include the left panel, turning off the pie chart (file, preferences, cpap) and the calendar (little triangle to the left of the date). Then arrange your chart so these graphs all fit in one screenshot:

Events
Flow Rate
Pressure (not Mask Pressure)
Leaks
Flow limitations
Snores

To fit them all in, you can squash them a little by grabbing the gray horizontal line that separates the graphs and moving it up. You don't need to include any other graphs unless one of the experts asks to see it.

By doing this, you make it a lot easier for people to see how things are related to one another, e.g., what your pressure is doing in response to those flow limitations.

If you have any questions about this formatting, just ask.

I think I got it this time.

Just a note, the time and date on the charts are incorrect.
It won't let me adjust them backwards for some reason.

Great job on the screenshot!

Do you know why they set you up with a fixed pressure of 5 and no EPR (expiratory pressure relief)?

Also, can you say a little more about how you feel? Do you have the impression you wake up a lot at night? Do you experience discomfort during the night? Are you tired during the day?

And one more area to ask about: are you taking any medications?

It all sounds a little nosy, I guess, but it’s an effort to find some clues to what is keeping you from feeling better.

Your numbers are fine,  that means that we/you should not be chasing numbers.  Your medical team is VERY happy.  Am I right?
OK, you are not feeling better than before CPAP.  Can you better define why?  As precise as you can describe how you feel?  The little things that I see should not be bothering you to the extent that I feel that they are.  Please do note that in all likelihood you have had Sleep Apnea for years prior to treatment, it can take a while to recover from all that.

What did your sleep study say?
Was there actually apnea present in the moderate/severe range?

Some of your earlier charts are pretty helpful right now.  You started off in Autoset mode with a pressure from 5 to 12, then dropped to 5 to 9 where your median pressure was usually around 8.0.  Your apnea was mainly CA in the 4-5 AHI range.  It appears you dropped back to your current pressure of 5.0 in fixed CPAP mode in late July, and since then, the AHI ha dropped from about 4-5 to a current rate of around 1-3 per hour.  Since October, your apnea has transitioned from mainly central to more obstructive. Based on the increase in CA when you changed the time of your sleep sessions (about September 9), I think you are susceptible to CA events as a result of sleep disruption and arousals, rather than something more serious, but we want to keep your therapy on the simple side with lower pressure and avoid a lot of pressure swings.

I think looking at the big picture, you need a small increase in pressure from 5.0 to 6.0.  I don't think your CA will reemerge at the previous levels with that change in fixed pressure.  I'll leave it at that for now.

@Dormeo
It was set at 5 after my second sleep study with my CPAP machine. I turned EPR off because I found it distracting.

I just feel very fatigued throughout the day. Like my body hasn't recharged despite getting a solid, uninterrupted 8 hours of sleep. I feel weak, like I have a virus. But I don't often feel sleepy during the day. I never nap, and never doze off during the day.

I'm not on any medication.

Cheers

My specialist is happy with my results. It's probably something else, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't any red flags before looking at other areas.
