Any significant differences between the two apart from design?

I managed to buy from a US online site Dotmed a used VPAP adapt with no humidifier or hose for $150 but I don’t think they ship internationally so I used a forwarding service. The price was so good I bought a spare.

The choice would have to depend on the age of the respective machines and their condition. The first AirCurve 10s overlapped the last of the S9s, so it's possible (but unlikely) to get an A10 that's the same age as the S9. You really need to look at the build date (which is included in the serial number) and the run hours.

The A10 has a smaller footprint and the humidifier is integrated, making it a more aesthetically attractive bedside companion. The air outlet also swivels, reducing tension on the hose. However the hoses are not interchangeable.

I used an A10 for a short period when my S9 was undergoing repairs. I found the A10 felt a bit more aggressive and dropped all pressure settings by 1 - 2cm to get a similar "feel".

One difference I have noted in working on the ResMed loader for OSCAR is that the S9 series report less statistical data in the STR.edf file - a total of 4 items, compared to 81 for the AS10 37060 Pacewave, for example. Some of that is fault reporting, which we don't currently report, and I expect we will in a future release.
Never taken either one apart, so I can't comment on what may have changed inside the box.
