tight chest - crazychef - 02-24-2013
hi all
anyone with any ideas for following
been using s9 auto now for 30 days no issues, last 2 days i have woken with a tight chest, sore at top when breathing, do you think this could be anything to do with machine?
i have a humidifier connected on 5.5 and 23c
on a side to that see specialist on monday see how the first 30 days have gone

While it could be related to the CPAP, any time anyone says tight chest to me, my answer is run, don't walk, to your doctor. It could be a respiratory tension, but it could be also be heart or circulatory, so please do not hesitate and and go see your GP or of the feeling is more persistent, and seeing it is Sunday, go to A&E now.

I agree with the first two posters. Hopefully it will be nothing. Since you asked for medical advice we have ethical considerations to consider.
I we said, wait untill tomorrow to see your pulmonologist and you had a serious condition it would weigh very heavy on us.
If you have insurance with a nurse advice line you could call them. Since this is a new condition, ge to the doctor.

I've been using apap over two years
when started I also got the tight chest feeling some mornings, put down to me taking deeper breaths as the machine giving the muscle a workout during the night but it may not be in every case. we always add a caveat to see your doctor to be on the safe side

The CPAP is not strong enough to actually inflate the lungs like a ventilator does. But, like Zonk says, it could just be you're having a series of bad nights.
BUT, you'd best be speaking to your doctor about it. Chest tightness can be from a huge array of conditions from sternum inflammation to heart difficulties to sleeping on a bad mattress. A simple EKG would rule out a ton of them.

Tight chest feeling can be a symptom of COPD, anxiety, OR HEART TROUBLE.
