Awake Awake Awake - BreatheRight - 02-22-2020

Started using the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet (with AirFit F20 mask) in January -- issue has always been to awaken during the night.  My events are much lower now; overall scores have improved but it's the lack of sleep!!  For example; go to sleep at 9 p.m. -- at 11:30, I'm awake.  And not for a few minutes -- I may be awake for over an hour.  I will return to sleep -- a few hours later, I'm awake.  Some mornings I'm just tired!

Question: if I'm awake, my events per hour won't show anything??

FYI:  I used to dream a lot --- after starting with the machine, frequency is less; some dreams, I don't remember the details.  Occasionally I'll still have a dream (weird or stupid events) -- and if those occur, they are tiring!

I haven't had a return visit to my physician yet (first week in April).  But this will be my major concern.

ALSO, as an FYI --- the Clinician turned my Ramp to OFF.  I'm relying on them to adjust my machine -- that's fine.  I just don't know if having the Ramp to on or auto, that it would help me stay asleep.

Overall, the machine is helping -- at least from 25 events per hour prior to the machine, I'm down to 2-6 per hour now.  (I just want to SLEEP all night!)

Thanks for any tips or advice.

PS --- this is a great board -- thank you for providing it.  We all seem to have issues and questions --- your input is great!! Sleep-well (I want to!)

You will get the most out of Apnea Board by downloading OSCAR and posting your daily charts. If nothing else you will be more knowledgeable for when you meet with your doctor.

I see that you only list MyAir for analysis.  I highly recommend OSCAR for a more detailed display of your sleep sessions.  Using OSCAR also will allow us to help with your problems.  You will need an SD card, 4Gb to 32Gb in size.  Some AS10's came with one while others didn't.  If you don't have one, they can be obtained from most pharmacies and big box stores.  You don't need a Resmed branded SD card.

BreatheRight, it appears you are using an Airsense 10 Autoset in CPAP mode at a pressure of 6.0. My guess is you are not using the exhale pressure relief (EPR). With such a low pressure, having ramp should make no difference. Ramp simply begins therapy at a lower pressure (default is 4.0 cm) and increases pressure over a set time or automatically when sleep breathing is detected. Your pressure is quite low, and there could be any number of reasons your sleep is disrupted. As mentioned by others OSCAR is one of the best ways to find out. The fact you still have 2-6 events per hour tells me something is not optimal, and we can help you identify some ways to improve that, whether you decide to do the settings or discuss it with the doctor.
