Can't get Oscar to import data to Macbook - RoseWeissman - 06-29-2020

Hi, first time poster here. Am using Resmed Airsense Autoset for her since Feb 2019. Was previously using Sleepyhead with no problems and then started using Oscar. But I cannot get Oscar to import any machine data. I've googled and looked here for a solution but can't find one. I click on the CPAP importer tab and regardless of whether I use "specify" or "yes" no information comes across. I think the issue is something to do with a root folder but I don't know enough to try and figure that out. I've attached screenshots, if someone could help me I'd be really grateful.

Edit: can't attach images as first time poster.
When I click on the importer tab, it says my Resmed has been located at /Volume/NO NAME  then would I like to import from this location.

If I click "yes" a box comes up and it looks like it is importing information- something about cataloguing EDF files. Then importing sessions and then a side bar comes up saying data has been imported but nothing is in the daily screen.

If I click "specify" a side message pops up saying to make sure to select the "root folder, or the drive letter of the data card" and then I'm unable to view or click on the rest of the message to see the instruction.

Thanks.

Information I should have included:
Oscar version 1.1.1
Macbook 10.15.5 Catalina

I just saw this thread and did the troubleshooting as mentioned. Edit: can't post link as a new member. The thread title was "First time download data - not loading into OSCAR app for Mac OS 10.12?"

I noticed that it's also not keeping my profile. I have to keep creating it. Thanks.

RoseWeissman,
Hi and Welcome to Apnea Board!

There is no post-count required for new members-- you can attach a file or image immediately in your very first post.
The 4-post requirement is for linking to files that are off-site (on another website).  But you can attach any file you wish now.

Follow the link in my signature line for guidance on Organizing the graph from the daily page of OSCAR, taking a Screenshot and then use the Attachment Feature to post your data.

Once to get that figured out, start a thread in the Main Forum.

Another bit of useful information is the location of your data directory. This can be found by running OSCAR, then clicking on the Help menu, then selecting Troubleshooting, and finally 'System Information'. At the bottom of the window is a line that tells us where the Data Directory is located. That would be helpful.

Hi OpalRose. Thanks for the welcome Thanks

What I'm going to do for now is use my work laptop (I own the laptop) and I've put OSCAR on it and it works with no issues. I bought a new CPAP machine at the weekend so can stop my rental. Rental costs in Ireland if you self pay are outrageous. I was trying to save the information on the SD card before I hand the machine back to the company.

Not sure why I couldn't do the links- an error message kept popping up. The screenshots I had uploaded to Imgur so that makes sense but couldn't post the link to the other thread.

Thanks again for your help Smile

Thanks pholnyk. Will try on the mac again at the weekend.

OSCAR should be installed in your /Applications folder.
The default location for your imported data should be in your Documents folder under OSCAR_Data, unless you changed it at install.  Using Finder go into Documents and see if the data folder has been created.

Double check the permissions for OSCAR in your Macs settings.  There is a link to the Mac wiki page in my signature.

Hi Jeff8356,

I saw another of your posts regarding issues with mac and Oscar and opened 2 Finder windows and dragged the file in to the applications folder and did everything else you said.

But there is no Oscar folder in documents and I keep having to create a profile. I've deleted Oscar and reinstalled and still the issue is there. I'll try again to attach images.

When I try to import it gives option of importing from "/Volumes/NO Name".

As per pholynk in systme info it says "data directory:/Volumes/OSCAR".

I know I said earlier about using my Windows work laptop but it's a crap laptop and I'd prefer keep this stuff on my home macbook.

/Volumes/OSCAR is a removable drive, network drive, or mounted dmg.  Unless you did that intentionally, something didn't go right with your initial installation.  Which would also explain why it's not saving your profile info.

The default data directory for OSCAR should be /Users/<yourusername>/Documents/OSCAR_Data

You may want to consider starting from scratch.  Delete the OSCAR app and the downloaded dmg.  Re-download OSCAR and try the install again following the steps in the Mac install wiki.

See the "Help, I'm running macOS Catalina and OSCAR won't import anything from my SD card!" at http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php/OSCAR_Installation:_Apple_Mac or in the README.rtfd in the OSCAR disk image that you downloaded.

Hi Jeff8356,
Thanks for the reply. I deleted the OSCAR app and download files and anything else related that I could find. Printed off the instructions and followed them to the T. I also looked at the instructions in the README.rtfd file.

I realised in security and privacy that I needed to give access for documents so I gave that permission. But still nothing showing up in documents. I still can't save a profile and if I do a search for /Users/<yourusername>/Documents/OSCAR_Data nothing shows up.

The only thing I see differently from all instructions is that I don't get the message ""OSCAR" would like to access files on a removable volume.- Don't allow/ Allow".

I don't have the knowledge to figure that out and have searched to try and figure it out.
Thanks.
