Mask leak ratings - JJJ - 03-31-2013

I know many masks are rated by their manufacturers for the maximum pressure you are supposed to use with them, but I was wondering if there existed a database of consumer ratings with respect to leaks. For example, Mask A was rated by x number of people and they gave it an average of x.x on leaks, where Mask B scored a different average on leaks. Maybe it could be done with a poll.

I'm considering giving up on my ninth mask. Every time I buy a new mask I feel as though I am shooting in the dark. Advice from suppliers is useless. They assure me the mask I called about will solve all my problems and probably cure world hunger, but they just want to make the sale.

I don't think such a group rating would be possible since the reasons for leaks are so varied. Face shape, nose shape, beard, mustache, side sleeper, belly sleeper, etc etc etc.

Supplier #1 customers reviews would give you some insight of each mask
Never know till you try the mask yourself
Maybe try before you buy, either thru DME 30 days mask return or on-line with return insurance policy

My DME is very large and carries a lot of masks, but there are lots more available online. Anyway, I don't get 30-day return privilege with the DME.

But you just gave me a great idea. The online supplier insurance premium is different for each mask. The one with the lowest premium would be the mask that they have the fewest returns with. At least that's my theory. Thus they get a review every time a customer returns a mask. Few customers will take the time to write a review, but every time they return a mask they give it a review anyway.
