SD card issue- resmed S9 elite - Boomer453 - 09-11-2020

Resmed s9 elite

I downloaded the resscan software so I could print out a compliance report  but when I put the SD card back in the CPAP it says its the wrong card and asks if I want to delete the data.  I click no and it tells me to remove the card

Anyone else had this happen before

Thanks

Hi Boomer453!  -  Welcome

You probably didn't write protect the SD card prior to inserting it in your PC.  The S9 is the ONLY CPAP that does not like additional files written to the card.  By default, Windows is set to write system volume information to any detachable drive in order to reduce read time when inserted.  If you are wondering, the S9 was designed before there was a SysVol Info file option in Windows.

Here is a file download link that will allow you to turn this Windows option off.
SysVolWrite - Disable/Enable

Here are some steps that may help.
  • Run the reg file above to turn off this feature.
Note: It doesn't reduce that much time anyway.
  • SD cards can and do go bad.  Create a backup directory on your PC to copy your SD card data to.
  • Copy the entire contents of the card to this folder. Do this on a regular basis.
  • Try to delete the SysVol file on the SD card. If not successful, let the S9 format it. . . You made a backup copy of the data in the step above, Right?
  • For safety, always Write Protect your card prior to inserting it in your PC.  Just remember to Write Enable it before putting it back in your S9.

Good Luck!

Again, be default, Windows has marked this directory as "Hidden". Likewise, your File Explorer has the option to view hidden files turned off. In your File Explorer, go to Tools ⇾ Folder options ⇾ View ⇾ Hidden Files and Folders. Change this setting to, Show hidden files, folders, and drives.

I'm on a Win7 computer so if you are using Win10, there may be a slight difference as to this path.

Don'tcha just love Windows? Big Grin

Appreciate your help, must be the card is just gone bad.
Canni use any SD card or does it need to be a resmed card?

Any SD Card 2-32GB, it does not need to be ResMed. The formatting is FAT-32

Reformatted the card in a camera instead of using windows and it appears to have fixed the problem.
