Resmed auto sense10 sounds like vacuum cleaner - Beaumont1124 - 09-30-2020

Loud whining noise, sounds like vacuum started last night. Louder on inhale than exhale. Checked hoses, filter, and applied lanolin to humidifier gasket after cleaning. No change in resonance afterward. loud enough i turned it off last night, could not ignore sound. Any idea cost to repair? It is 2 1/2 years old. It has been suggested on this board that i might benefit from a bi-level machine. Do i fix this one or go for new bi-level? Who repairs them?

I recently had noise problems with my ResMed AS10 for her.  I phoned the DME, ran the machine and they ordered a replacement.   I am not sure if warranty is the same everywhere,  here it is 3 years.   Luckily I within the warranty period.

You didn't mention if you checked the reservoir.   If it is even slightly out 1/32 of an inch, you will get a loud roar.

What part of the machine did the noise come from?  Mine came from the left side.  If it is the reservoir, it will come from the right.

If you got the machine through insurance, there may be an extended warranty up to 3-years. Many insurance companies require this as a condition of in-network listing. Your pneumatic block (blower) has failed, and it is nearly always replaced rather than repaired. Your first stop is to ask your supplier and provide them the machine. Get what you can out of it, and if you want to upgrade to a bilevel, you may have a trade in with few hours, or a great backup machine. If no warranty, and your insurance coverage is not helping, then get the best deal you can on an Aircurve 10 Vauto. My recollection is your flow limitation is not resolved at EPR 3.

I’m on my third machine in as many months. I am very discouraged. I love the AirSense 10 and its otherwise quiet operation. I guess I’ll keep replacing them as long as the DME tolerates it. I’m surprised this isn’t dinging ResMed in the profit area.
