Oscar Terms - Avery - 12-11-2020

Please tell me what the category on "Oscar" titled "Breathing not detected' actually means. Is it really indicating that I went minutes without breathing at all?

Hi Avery!  -  Welcome

NO, it means that your CPAP could not detect breathing.   Seeing that you are using an FFM, I'm wondering if you had a major leak.  If the leak is large enough, then the CPAP is at "full throttle" and can not distinguish any flow changes. A lot of times if someone is using a nasal or pillow type of mask and breathes through their mouth, the BND will be flagged.

This flag is only seen on Philips Respironics machines. It is not OSCAR, but an event used by Philips machines to alert that a clear breathing signal is not detected.
