NHS CPAP - Toob - 12-20-2020

Is anyone on here from the UK and have got their CPAP machine from the NHS?
Have you had any issues with your local provider with respect to fine tuning the machines setup?
For example my refuses to let me have the "Ramp Up" facility enabled on the Dreamstation.
Also what mask options where you given?

I am in the uk and I get my mask provided I have Resmed p10 I have just been given the p30i as a replacement as apparently they were having stock issues with the p10’s. As far as machines go I self manage and I use my own provided Resmed S9 ASV this is a specialist machine for complex apnoea it was easier to buy my own machine rather than jump through the hoops and get the trust to pay.

As far as Ramp is concerned there is no need to use ramp but you can change any setting you like on your NHS provided machine they cannot prevent you changing things. Download Oscar the details are in my signature. With graphs we may be able to help you improve your treatment.

Thanks  I have OSCAR great stats. My concern is if I make adjustments when I go back in 6 weeks surely they will see as the unit records prescription changes?

If you have a sound basis for making changes then the respiratory therapists are happy to take your changes in my experience. It is better to ask forgiveness Big Grin

Hi, I'm from the UK and I've found the NHS to be terrible in diagnosis of sleep related issues and also supplying machines. I got my machine 2 weeks ago, all settings set to default and no fine tuning at all. I'm having to use this forum to help because i dont feel any better.

If I can add a wording suggestion to the OP, changing the machine settings even the therapy pressures will not enact a prescription change nor is a script change necessary if you the patient are doing said change. Despite me not being from the UK I think this is accurately applies to you.

I have the Dreamstation from the NHS. I know how to make changes to it. You need to press the big knob and the little square on top together. This brings up another screen. Choose therapy. You should be able figure out what to do from there.

I am not sure if this reply is allowed so forgive me if I have committed a board sin.  This is my first ever post.

Oh, regarding masks. I have had three, and three works perfectly. I under the Royal Papworth. I have found them excellent. Always phone me when I ask, they listen. Give good advice. Have been an inpatient several times August to Feb this year. Loved it.

Our NHS is truly our shining success.
