What is Total Time in Apnea? OSCAR - felipao11 - 02-02-2021

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know how to reduce "Total Time in Apnea"?  My AHI is always below 1, but I have seen my "Total Time in apnea" being up to 1 hour according to OSCAR graphs. This value correlates to how I feel during the day, the higher the worse.

I'm not sure what "Total time in apnea" means but I think it is related to having Flow Limitation events that are less than 10 seconds duration.

Increasing max pressure would reduce Total Time in Apnea?  I've had 15max pressure and my Resmed Airsense10 never goes that high anyways.

Thanks for the help

The "Total time in apnea" in your graph is showing 34 seconds. The AHI graph is more or less how many events occurred during that time frame. That graph really serves no purpose in therapy treatment.

To me 00:00:34 looks like 34 seconds?

Thanks, my bad, I was reading different units (hours/minutes) but it is actually (minutes/seconds)

Since your questions are based on OSCAR, I will be moving this thread over to the Software Support Forum.

"Total time in apnea" is the total of the duration of apnea events (H, OA, UA, CA) as reported by the CPAP machine for each apnea. Note that ResMed 10 machines do not report a duration for Hypopneas, so they do not contribute to the "total time in apnea."

Flow limitations are not included in this total.
