Machine and hose position - FozzyDaBear - 03-09-2021
I'm in the process of trying the Resmed Airfit F30 full face mask. I currently have my machine right next to my head so the hose comes down my torso and then back up to the mask. I'm think of moving my machine down a little bit to maybe next to my stomach area so there's less hose to get tangled in. For those with a full face mask where the hose attaches in the front, what have you found to be the best machine and hose position?

Fozzy, a good solution for the hose is to hang it from your headboard or wall (use a Command Hook). I use a lanyard like you would have for a work I.D. or conference name tag, and loop it around the tube leaving enough slack to reach the bed and allow movement. There are many CPAP tube hangers on the online market if you want something commercial.

I went to the F30i. The tube is moved from the “nose” to the top ph the head gear. The hose is on a swivel and I never notice it. Air tubes come down both sides of the head to the mouth piece.
Works great for me but a couple of people here say the sound of the air bothers them but I honestly do not hear it.

Yup, use a hose hanger / holder. Best thing I've done so far to increase the ease of use.

Thanks all. I currently have the hose coming over the headboard. I used the F30i for a few nights but don't get the best seal with that mask. It will start off fine but seems to leak when I slightly turn my head. That's why I'm trying the F30. That extra strap seems stabilize it more. I going to try the hose holder.

I have the machine lower than the bed, just off the floor, and run the hose vertically from there and tuck it under my pillow. The rest of the hose lies alongside my body, under the covers in the cooler months. Its still pretty warm at night here so no need for sheets. The hose therefore lies on the bed. I use a hose fleece to prevent rainout.
This setup works for me.

My machine sits on top a file cabinet alongside our bed. The cabinet is about the same level / height as our top mattress.
The hose runs up to my hose hanger that sits atop our bed's headboard. It then drops straight down to my mask. I also use a fleece hose cover and it literally makes the hose dead silent, in regards to any movement.

Unit sits on my nightstand and the hose runs up and over the headboard to a hose hanger. I also use a 10 foot hose so I don't have to worry about knocking the unit off the nightstand. Another benefit of using a hose hanger is you can have the hose fixed and the hanger so if you tug, the resistance is at the hanger and not the unit.

I too just switched to the F30 FFM and worried about the same thing. My bed has a a bed post high enough to attach a shoe string to hold the tube up in the air at the corner of the bed. This seems to work fine for me. I never get tangled up in the hose. I think any thing that gets the hose up in the air as it enters the bed would work.
