Proper procedure for switching machines with OSCAR - bmn001 - 10-11-2021

Like many people here, I've just swapped out my DreamStation with a DreamStation 2.

I understand that OSCAR isn't able to read DS2 data yet.  However, if and when that day does come, what is the correct way for me to transition to the new device within OSCAR?

Similarly, what if I were to stop using a DreamStation and start using an AirSense from ResMed?  What steps should I take within OSCAR to ensure a transition that is as smooth as possible?

Will OSCAR detect that a different device's SD card is inserted, and prompt me to do something?  Will it just auto-merge the existing DS1 history with the new device's data?  Should I create a new profile for myself in OSCAR altogether before importing the data from the new device?

I've read through the manual and wasn't able to find anything that addresses this scenario, so apologies if it is covered somewhere and I missed it!

The best method is to use a new profile in OSCAR for each machine with a "new" or freshly formatted SD card for each device. This is because OSCAR store the data of a DS differently than a ResMed and problems can occur.
If it is the same model then you can use the same profile IF you don't use the other machine on the same day. This is because some info is only recorded once per day.

We use multiple profiles to test OSCAR with many different models.

Thanks for the clarification.  Sounds like a new profile is the way to go.

Thanks!
