Cannot open OSCAR.app on mac - EmilySleeps - 10-17-2021

I cannot download the OSCAR software on my mac - I've tried a few times but just get the following message:

“OSCAR.app” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.
macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware.
This item is on the disk image “OSCAR-1.3.0 (1).dmg”. Chrome downloaded this disk image today at 11:17 PM from www.sleepfiles.com.

I used SleepHead tracking software years ago but then it stopped working.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!!

As soon as you get the alert panel, go under the Apple menu in the upper-left corner, launch System Preferences and click on the "Security and Privacy" tab. In the "General" tab there are radio buttons that allow you to choose between Allow apps downloaded from App Store and Allow apps downloaded from App Store and registered developers. OSCAR (and Sleepyhead) are neither. But immediately after it prevents you from opening a non-app-store-non-reg-dev app, there should be some verbiage directly underneath that section asking you if you want to launch OSCAR anyway. It will want you to type in your password.

Thank you very much! I'll give that a try!

The official Apple way:

https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/open-a-mac-app-from-an-unidentified-developer-mh40616/mac

offers you 2 options.  @cathyf mentioned one way.
