I'll echo past posts saying a leakage below the upper threshold is ok as long as it doesn't disturb your sleep and your comfort. If using a liner helps with comfort and reduces disturbances, it is ok to leave a bit looser, and have some preventable leakage.

For me, the liner allows more leakage, and feels more consistent in the comfort level. Instead of frequent face farts and tickles, I get skin cooling.
