Facial skin stretching and creasing - Oracles - 03-28-2022
Hello,
I am just beginning therapy. Nasal pillows are not working for me because I mouth-breathe soon as I fall asleep, even with chin strap.
I will try a nose&mouth mask this week.
After even short usage, My facial skin looks stretched and deeply creased.
I wanted to ask whether a silk face cover would be OK with CPAP.
It is a thin silk that covers from forehead to chin.
I realize it would probably become moist, but think it would protect my skin.
Any ideas? Thanks

I use a full face mask. I have fabric covers (tubes) over my straps to prevent lines in my face. They were made by my wife using soft, furry material that she uses to make teddy bears. They are comfortable and work really well. Similar things can be bought on eBay.
Also try to avoid over tightening the straps. This makes lines more likely but can also cause leaks.

One more question for you. Does the fabric get wet? (If you use a humidifier).

Nothing on the outside of the mask should get wet. The humidity stays on the inside - unless you have a poor seal.
Also, because this is your first experience with a full-face mask, I suggest you search the forum for help getting it all sealed up and comfortable. It's a bit of an art. I think there is a 'Wiki' on the subject.

I've noticed the same on my face too. I use strap covers made of a soft fleece material which help.
Supplier #31 sells these for all types of masks. They are a little expensive, but if you can make them... that's even better.
Also, you might get some hints by reading the Mask Primer.
