brain fog & pap therapy? - tiredtony - 04-21-2022

Hi everyone,

I have been using ( and struggling ) with being a new PAP (Bipap) user for 6 months now. After many masks changes, pressure setting adjustments, and DIY hacks to make this work consistently, I've hit a new obstacle.

When I make it a full night without ripping my mask off, my AHI looks good, but I have a weird symptom... brain fog. Where I don't feel normal mentally. I can't think clearly. It happens every once in a while and it seems to be linked to the days where I use the mask 7+ hours (which is hard to achieve).

Ive also noticed my memory doesn't feel sharp if I don't get good sleep. Less than 4 hours of sleep results in decreased memory function, which kinda makes sense. But the brain fog on 7+ hours of sleep does not make sense. Which is why Im asking for help!

For what its worth, I don't actually achieve 7+ hours/night of good sleep often. But when I do, i noticed this brain fog, and my ability to think clearly (like normal) is very off. It's hard to explain, but It concerns me, and I'm wondering if anyone experienced this?

Here's my charts from a good night where I keep it on for 7+ hours. I actually tape my mask to my face to prevent myself from taking it off in the middle of the night. This is the only way I make it through the night with it on.

Does anything stand out in my charts? Perhaps my pressure settings or something needs to change?
Does anyone have this experience?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I see your CPAP is an ASV. While an ASV is a bi-level CPAP, it is a more advanced one. Were you having CAs prior to moving to it? Also, please see the links in my signature about posting images here.
