question for my daughter - car54 - 05-04-2022

My daughter was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea. She meets with a specialist in 2 weeks.
Her only concern and question is the meaning of 0% N3 sleep .

Thanks, car54

I know nothing about this but here is what I found…

Like N1 and N2, N3 is a stage of non-rapid eye movement sleep, when the eyes are relatively still and dreams are uncommon. Essential functions such as wound healing and memory processing take place during N3 sleep, which typically starts around forty minutes after the sleep period begins. (1) Episodes of N3 are longer at the beginning of the night, and may continue for ninety minutes. We spend approximately 20% of our sleep time in the N3 stage of sleep.

I'm not sure, but I think N3 corresponds to what FitBit calls 'Deep' sleep. My guess is that your dau never felt relaxed enough to go into deep sleep, probably because of the wires and stuff hooked up to her.

The attachment did not work and is a bunch of code. The answer is really simple. If your daughter will be treated by CPAP, she should get a Resmed Airsense 10 or 11 Autoset and self-titrate. This will avoid a second titration exam and with Oscar give the best results in the most comfortable way possible. Avoid agreeing to another clinical titration test and get the best machine on the market. Have her join here, and I bet we can help move things in the right directions.

If you download the file and change the ".txt" to ".jpg" it becomes viewable.

This should be better.

Car54, I have never gotten a good night of sleep at a sleep study. The study determines long latency to sleep and REM and no deep sleep. I'm sure it has more to do with the clinical environment than typical sleep architecture.
