CMS50D+ not tight enough - flibbidyfloo - 07-06-2013

I'm new to apnea, been using my CPAP for about 8 days, and I wanted to try using it in conjunction with an oximeter. I bought a CMS50D+ to record my o2 levels and used it for the first time last night.

It doesn't seem tight enough, even though I have pretty big hands and fingers, and it appears to have fallen off after about 2 hours of sleep, based on the recording data, and the fact that I woke up in the middle of the night and it was laying next to my head Smile

My dentist had previously lent me one that had a wrist strap that kept it on my finger... is that sort of setup necessary to wear one at night if you move around? Or is there something I can rig up, like a rubber band on this unit to help it stay on?

Welcome

I've never had that problem (I don't move in my sleep anymore), but others have said they had success using white medical tape. I think the recommendation is to not wrap anything around the device but to simply stick the tape to it and then run a decent length of the tape on your hand to keep it in place. DocWils gave some pretty specific instructions a while back on how to do it right, but I didn't pay that much attention since I've never had that problem. Hold on and I'm sure you'll get better help from others.
Sleep-well

You don't want it too tight or you will get inaccurate readings. Just tight enough to hold it on.

I kept meaning to experiment by wearing a sock on my hand. It would hold it in place.

There are wrist ones available. Check out Supplier #19 in our Supplier's List (link at the top of every page). Also check out the Review section where folks have discussed their success or the lack of success with the various models.
