Normal Patterns or a Problem? - tmacri100 - 07-28-2022

Hi All,

New to this board and it's great, and so is Oscar.  I'm trying to make sense of my Oscar data to see if I can find any patterns.  I was diagnosed with sleep apnea with an AHI of 31.  I've been using a Resmed 11 Autoset for about 2 months.  I've switched between nasal pillows and nasal cushions (currently using the nasal cushions).  I consistently get scores of high 90's from my machine, and events average around 1 per hour.  But I'm still waking up all the time at night and trying to figure out why.

I downloaded Oscar and there appears to be a pattern between events, flow limit, pressure and leaks.  I'm not sure what, if anything, this means and if it has any relevance to my nighttime waking and tiredness.  I'm also not sure if flow limits and leak rates like this are normal or indicate a problem.

Here is a screenshot of my latest results, which are similar to what I've been seeing each day.  Any thoughts if this looks fairly normal or problematic?

Results look pretty good. The cluster of OA is positional, but was an isolated event. Otherwise your event rate and flow limits are low and everything looks very normal. There are a number of spikes in the flow rate that might be arousals or just deep breaths. Hard to say with out looking more closely. Most important factor is how do you feel about the therapy and your sleep?

Thanks; that was helpful.  I would say it is 50% improved now.  Brain fog and lack of concentration is gone, and I don't feel the need to nap all the time.  Eager and energetic enough to start working out again.  But before, I would wake up constantly but fall back asleep right away (from exhaustion I assume).  Now, I wake up a few times and lie there for a long time so wasn't sure if it was UARS or something else waking me.  Maybe the few events I do still have now keep me awake.

Interestingly, I got an Wellue O2 ring.  One weekend, I wore it at night and then woke up in the morning and took off my mask, but kept the O2 ring on and went back to sleep.  Do you think all constant O2 drops one after the other at the end of the chart are apneas that happened because I didn't have my mask on?  If so, the machine must be making a huge difference.

Thanks again

I do think the numerous desaturaitons and recoveries at the end reflect your sleep without CPAP. I believe you can import the Wellue data to Oscar and superimpose the graphs with your other charts. I'm not the expert on that one.
