Sefam S.Box issues - Danmason - 11-16-2022

I’ve been using a SEFAM S.box for a few months. Generally getting on ok. (except I have absolutely no idea how to read the data on the app!)

I’m finding that the s.box seems to jump into overdrive and wake me up a few times a night. It may just be cleverly calculating the air pressure needed (to keep me alive!) but it seems wrong to me. The workaround is to turn it off and on.

Anyone else experienced this?

without some kind of data its hard to recommend anything, do you have a desktop software for sefam s.box?

Thanks. I was about to start looking at that. Downloaded Oscar and plan to give that a try.

I doubt if OSCAR supports your machine. However, you can find SEFAM PC software
for download in the Private Files and Links Forum.

Thanks so much. Will check it out.
Looks like Sefam software (Connect & Analyse) is only available to healthcare professionals, but I've made contact.
And Dreamstar analyze looks like PC only, as you mentioned – I only have a Mac.

I have been on CPAP (Sefam S Box) for a week, and have experienced exactly the same.
I phoned the sleep clinic after 2 nights as the air pressure was so severe it almost took the mask off!

They advised that as it is auto CPAP that it should drop back down, but as you stated, it doesn’t and the only way to get around this is to switch off and back on again, which takes the pressure back to the base minimum of 4.

I am back in clinic next week, so I’ll raise it again then.

I did download the app (Sefam Access) but it is really basic and I can find no guidance to go with it, to explain what each thing means….

Annoying isn’t it.

I agree, I don’t really bother with the app any more tbh. Doesn’t tell me much.

I asked my consultant about this issue but they couldn’t really identify what this was happen, just advised that this was when the machine decided it required not pressure. I’m not convinced.

It it helps, I found a workaround was to simply press the right hand side button. It drops the pressure immediately down to 4.0 pressure. It doesn’t solve the issue but it avoids you turning the whole thing on and off.

Ok thanks for the tip - I’ll try that.

Out of interest, how many episodes/events were you averaging per night when you used the app?

My Sleep Apnea has considerably improved since I had Covid for the first time in October, and the episodes (I think) are now showing borderline normal.

Or might be episodes per hour (y sure, as no guide!)

I can’t really work it out tbh. Events/hour seems to vary a lot from 2-6. Doesn’t really inform me much.

Good to hear yours has improved.
