Dreamstation heated tubing setting - spetzal - 12-05-2022

Adding inheated tubing on my Dreamstation, which has a heat setting range of 1-5.  I picked a more-or-less median setting of 3 to start with, then proceed from there.

Id appreciate anecdotal information anyone has out there regarding lowering/raising this setting going forward.

Last winter I used the heat setting 3, the same for humidification. I developed some type of a lung issue, a cough and what felt like an inflammation in the lungs. Seemed those settings were too high and aggravated the lungs, so lowered them to the lowest setting 1. The cough and lung issue cleared over time and I have not had them since. This winter I'm using heat setting 1 and humidification setting 2, seems to be working so far. In the summer I only use humidifcation setting 1, no heating. The only side effect from CPAP use I have experienced now (that I'm aware of) is dry mouth that started to impact teeth. Recently I started using Xylimelts Dry Mouth and they seem to help. Someone on the forum mentioned them, that's how I found out about them and decided to try them. They actually stick to the gums where you place them, and the moisturizing effect lasts for hours.

Im in north texas. Winter here (now that ive had sinus surgery) is hard on me. Ive been using max humidification, which is good but lacking. Hence the heated tubing. Considering how delicate my sinuses are now, im thinking starting with a heated tubing setting of 1 and keeping humidification at max…..

It's dry here in Colorado and I tend towards dry troubled sinuses, so I use a room humidifier set at high and I set my pap machine's humidity setting as high as I can get it without running the tank dry every night. I also set my heated hose to 84 degrees, as the cold air blowing in makes me uncomfortable. These are all comfort settings, so whatever feels good to you is what you should use.
