How to buy a used cpap - Sleepinow - 12-15-2022

I was wondering if I'm supposed to be looking at the blower hours or something else to determine how many hours the machine was used. I see some postings without any run time hours so im not really sure what to look for

15000 hours is considered lifetime though many have run for well over 20000. And yes you want the total run hours. The second consideration is that it comes from a non-smoking household. That oder is virtually impossible to remove.

On getting a used device step one is to perform a factory reset to ensure ALL settings are in their default values.

Can confirm (re: smoking).. I slept in an AirBnB last year, at a house that had a subtle but strong scent (like potpourri). I stayed there for 4-5 nights.
After returning home, the air from my cpap smelled like that dang potpourri for weeks (changing the filter didn't help much).

When buying CPAP from any marketplace, getting the run-hours is important, but you also need to use a secure payment method that helps indemnify you against the person that packs a box of junk and sends it. It used to be that CPAP purchases were pretty safe, but I have seen a few bad deals as well. Never use cash transfers, Venmo, Zelle and other cash-like payments. Paypal has some safeguards. Asking for a photo of the screen with the run-hours or seeing the machine in real-time with Facetime or similar at least gives you some assurance that the person you are talking to has the device in-hand. Buying in person is best, but I have had good deals from over 1500 miles away. Pay attention to the vibes you get from the seller
