high leak message - wifey - 01-25-2014

we are getting a message on the little screen of the resMed S9 that there is a "high leak" and to check all fittings we checked and found leaks in the hose. now have installed a new hose and still getting the message. the pressure seems lower than it was and the water level of the humidifier seems not to go down. need help figuring this out! thanks.[/font]

Welcome, wifey, make sure the hose is connected properly but it sounds like the leaks are coming for the mask it's self, make sure it is tight but not overly tight, could you tell us and update your profile with the model of CPAP, it is next to the power button, it will be either a Escape, an Elite or Autoset.

S9 is a little different than my S8. However, the water not going down might indicate a leak elsewhere.
Check the coupling between the blower unit and the humidifier unit.
Check the seal of the tank to the humidifier.

wifey, I would download either Sleepyhead or ResScan software and analysis your leak data.
below is the link to Sleeyhead and some Youtube video's

In view of the fact that it is a nasal mask, do not overlook the possibility that the leak may not be any of the equipment but may be from the mouth of the individual wearing the mask.

Best of Luck,

Thanks! I think that's it.

If hubby is mouth-leaking and wearing a nasal mask, he'll need to try a chin strap. If that doesn't work (and usually it does) he'll have to go with either a hybrid or a full face mask.
