S9 data questions - justMongo - 03-12-2014

So, my new S9 is on the local UPS truck to be delivered today.
I'm reading manuals for it.
I see one conflict in regard to the data card -- one the one hand, it says to disconnect the power before inserting or removing the card.

Then it says one can read out he data by inserting a card, waiting for a data copied message, and removing the card -- well, that obviously implies the power is applied.

So, do you unpower your unit? I think not, correct?

Should I leave the card in the S9?

I've heard people say to unplug it first, but I've had my machine for a couple of months and I took my card out daily for the first while and now about every third day. I have only unplugged my machine weekly during the first month to take it with me to the sleep centre (that was what they wanted during the trial period) and haven't unplugged it at all for a couple of weeks now.

I keep the card in the machine and put it right back after I have removed it out to read it with my computer or to take it to the sleep centre, otherwise I'd likely forget to put it back.

There is a small potential for screwing up your card if you remove it with the power on. Just like on your computer if you remove a usb device without "closing" it first. I never unplug the power before removing the card, but then I try never to remove the card when the resmed machine may be actively doing stuff, such as in the middle of the night when I'm sucking air.

Yes, otherwise no detailed data get recorded on the card

S8 is different, you only insert the card in the machine when you want to copy the data on the card
the machine record all data including detailed data

Got it. I have it all setup both physically and parameter configuration.
I'm going to start in S mode like my former machine.
After I get a handle on the S9, I'll likely switch to Auto mode.

AH. Time to change my profile!

I'll not mention the supplier -- but I am so happy with the deal I got

You can mention the supplier from the suppliers list .... supplier # 1, 2, 3, or whatever

If not on the list ... you can mention the name without dot com, something like CPAP World from Timbuktu ... Coffee

I figured you would have it by now knowing you. My machine is usually asleep but plugged in when I release the card and when I put it back in. Both times the machine will auto on causing no problems. I have left the card out a night or two and you don't get any info but when you put it back you will get the compliance basics.

Hope you enjoy the new "toy" Mongo
