VPAP VS. CPAP - joecrash43 - 04-15-2014 Can anyone tell me the difference between those two ? My last sleep studies were about 6 years ago and I am going to have bariatric surgery in the not too distant future, and the Dr. wants his patients to have been okayed by whomever put us on our CPAPs or VPAPs. I have a vpap, just wondered why whenever I tell a Dr or nurse that they say "oh, you mean a cpap!" Thanks! RE: VPAP VS. CPAP - justMongo - 04-15-2014 VPAP is ResMed's trademarked word for a bilevel CPAP. One pressure for inhalation, and a lower pressure for exhalation. I see you have an SV machine. that machine initiates a breathe when you fail to breath. So, which surgery are you having -- Roux-n-Y, Sleeve or Banding? RE: VPAP VS.
