Rosacea + Full Face Mask - readyforsleep - 05-03-2014

Is there anyone out there with rosacea using a full face mask? How do you protect your nose??? As a trial I used a mask liner + gauze over my nose. After an hour nap I still woke up to redness, irritation on my nose. I was chicken to only use the mask liner thinking it might ride up.

I am trialing an AirFit F10. If I look at the Pressure flow curve for this mask, it looks like at 20 cm leak rate is 54. Does that sound about right for a full face mask?

Thanks!

From ResMed - Skin Irritation - How can I stop getting facial marking and/or nasal pressure sores?
http://www.resmed.com/au/service_and_support/mask-faqs.html?nc=patients

Mask liner made of cotton material or cloth mask may helps while the irritation is healing and talk to your doctor too

Edit: Also read the question further down .. I am getting skin irritation/allergies. What can I do?

I have rosacea on my nose from before CPAP. My full face mask does not seem to bother it and I keep forgetting to treat it anyway.

Best Regards,

I also have Rosacea and have found it much easier using a Nasal Pillow and a chin restraint rather than a Nasal mask or Full face mask.

Just my preference.

Thanks everybody. I'm using a liner and it seems to help
most nights. Last night was an exception, but I won't go into that.

I took Zonk's advice and thought I would query my doctors- what a novel
thought. I go to you guys before I go to the medical community. Anyway
I left a message at my dermatologists and my sleep doctor's on Monday.
The dermatologist got back to me and said "don't use a full facemask,
if you need further help make an appointment". I'm still waiting for the
sleep doctor to respond...

just thought you guys would enjoy this

Karen, owner of Pad a cheek gave me the solution- cover your face
with milk of magnesia before putting the mask on. A little messy,
but works!
