Fisher & Paykel's Simplus FF Mask - me50 - 11-25-2013

The Simplus is now available in the U.S. as of last Monday is what I was told. They also gave me the order part number so it must be so!

Would like to hear from those that have used this mask to see how it worked for you.

Thanks.

RE: F&P Simplus - PsychoMike - 11-26-2013

I gave one a try when looking for a ffm. I was fortunate to have it concurrently with a Quattro Air to try out.

I haven't tried a lot of ffms, but I can tell you that, of those I tried, the Simplus has the softest, most comfortable cushion / seal I've tried. It's deep all around and I like the way that F&P did the seal at the nose...it has a stiffer silicone "nose clip" style piece (no, it is not a clip, just a reinforcement) to help it keep its shape, but the seal there folds / baffles itself with the "nose clip" to eliminate "hot spots" of pressure. Made a good seal at the nose for me with no pain, redness or other marks there and, as I said, it was very comfortable.

Where I had an issue, and ended up going with the Quattro Air, was at the chin. The Simplus has the same deep, soft seal there and I found it didn't get quite as nice a seal with my chin. It was comfy, but I found that even with a reasonable amount of tension on the headgear, I got leaks every time I went from inhale to exhale. It was that momentary surge in pressure when the machine has to transition from throwing a lot of air at you to keep up the pressure while you breathe in to you breathing out always seemed to cause a little leak at the chin. It wasn't a big leak, but the little "pft" every time I went from inhale to exhale drove me nuts.

As with all things CPAP related, YMMV....hopefully the Simplus works for you me50 Smile

I just got my Simplus today and will let you know how I like it. I use the Nano and chinstrap but need a go to full face for colds and sinus issues occasionally.

Lukie, I've been using the Simplus since I gave up on the Wisp nasal mask because I couldn't keep my mouth shut. I like the feel of the Simplus better than the Quattro FX I was using before I tried the Wisp. My leaks are minimal but I am thinking of trying the Quietus liner with the Simplus. Does anyone have an opinion of the Quietus liner?

F&P Simplus Mask - brianwood619 - 02-26-2014

My son was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea. I have been a long time user of the Hans Rudolph mask and have like it to this point, so my son tried it and said he would go with that one. He and his mother came home yesterday after being out and I noticed he got a new mask. he purchased the F&P Simplus because he said the hans mask was becoming uncomfortable. I tried the mask on and was immediately sold on it.

I went down the the medical shoppe and purchased one yesterday evening.

Last night was the most comfortable I have been sleeping for a very long time. The mask has a cloud soft seal, and I noticed I did not have to tighten this mask nearly as tight as my last mask. No leaks detected on looking at sleepyhead this morning. And the best part is I can sleep on my side and it remains sealed.

I woke up this morning with no marks on my face whatsoever and no impression on the bridge of my nose.

I would highly recommend this mask as now my old hans rudolph mask is a thing of the past.

I also am a fan of the F&P Simplus mask. After trying three other masks and experiencing problems with leaking, claustrophobia and air flowing out the mouth, I found the Simplus solved all those issues.

[split] BEFORE YOU START... - sfr - 04-04-2014

The Simplus is my 4th mask in 6 months. I have had problems with leaks with all the masks and this will be my last "try" of a new mask. So, far the "chin" seal is good, but contrary to what everyone else has said the one on the nose leaks into my eyes. I will continue to try to adjust the mask to eliminate that leak, but if I am going to have leaks I will go back to my XS- Quattro Air which is smaller, lighter, easier on/off and a whole lot more comfortable.

Welcome to the forum.

Have you tried Mirage Quattro. I know that some people have problems with sore noses from this mask but I do not have any sore nose problem. I had a lot of leakage problems prior to this mask in part due to my pressure (20 cm/H2O) and the fact that I could not defeat mouth leaks with a nasal mask. The mirage Quattro has gotten my leaks in an acceptable area and for me seems to maintain its seal well. That may just be me but that's my 2 bits.
