Search for Perfect Nasal Pillows - PollCat - 11-15-2014

I've become fed up with the little prongy-things that held the Aloha pillows to the head gear. If you accidentally detached one of the prongs during the night, you must turn on a light to get it re-attached! Oh-jeez Over the years, I've tried so many pillow-masks that I've lost count. One of these days I'll find the perfect one for me. Until that day arrives, I continue to search.

After researching new pillow-mask "products" on the internet, I order the Apex (Mr) Wizard 230 nasal pillows mask from Supplier #1. After a few night's sleep with this mask, I'll review it in the appropriate forum; see (http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Forum-CPAP-Mask-Reviews)

Good luck! I feel your pain. I reckon most of us do.

You ought to do a wiki page and list all the masks you have tried and the results.

It's no P10 but it looks interesting, I'll await your review.

Its not the pillows that are the problem its your nose.

Anyone for a nosectomy?

I'm waiting for the new suppository model.

Hi
I used the Nuance pillows last night, and although a little heavier than the P10 they were a very comfortable fit, and my leak rate dropped dramatically.
I plan on alternating between the two sets, so I can get a lot more leak data and avoid any build up of soreness in my nose.

the one thing that has helped on the leak front is using a hose hanger, which stops the hose getting wrapped round me and the be sheets and then pulling at the mask.

Hose hanger!! Thank you for mentioning that! I was wondering what they were called.

I notice people mentioning the hose hanger to avoid getting tangled in their hose. That has not been a problem for me (so far). However the concept of the hanger makes me think that it would be a good way to slightly "lift" my Nuance nose pillows (just enough so it doesn't cause leakage) in order to reduce the pressure of the Nuance pillows against my upper lip.

Has that worked for anyone?

Just to make the non-P10 users jealous: I just run the light weight pigtail hose of the P10 down my body and either trap it between my arm and rib cage (when facing away from machine) or under my arm and body pillow (when facing the machine.)

It practically disappears and does not pull on my nose or head. Leaks are minimal (I tolerate NO leak noise.)

Usually the only occasional source of leaks are either:

1) Rubbing my cheek on the pillow (snuggling in) and putting tension on one side of headgear -- but I have pretty much learned to avoid this 99% of the time.

2) Bumping the mask hose connector into something (usually my body pillow) -- but that required only a trivial commitment to moving the pillow down the bed a few inches to leave space.

Hmmm. Body pillow.

Someone should come out with a body pillow that's shaped more like Sofia Vergara from Modern Family. I bet they'd sell a million of those. Dreaming
